Combined all-wheel-drive competence.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles showcased more than 20 modification solutions at the ABENTEUER & ALLRAD 2017.
From protective plates to snorkels: with the latest modifications for 4MOTION vehicles, there was a whole raft of exciting innovations for travel off the beaten track on offer at the ABENTEUER & ALLRAD 2017. Whether used for business or pleasure, for a demanding on-the-road work life or off-road trips during weekends in the mountains – a powerful four-wheel-drive vehicle provides good traction and stable road handling in difficult conditions, even on rough terrain. The latest innovations and hottest technologies for off-road driving were on display in late May 2017 at ABENTEUER & ALLRAD, the world’s largest off-road show, in Bad Kissingen. Numerous body builders combined their all-wheel-drive competence, using 4MOTION models from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles as the basis for modification solutions for almost every off-road application. 4MOTION all-wheel drive can be relied on in the rain and snow, on gravel and mountain roads and when accelerating and cornering.
At home off road.
The Crafter 4MOTION, Caddy 4MOTION, Amarok V6 and Transporter Rockton in particular were also in action on the demanding off-road course. Seikel and Snoeks, for example, combined forces to convert the new Crafter 4MOTION for work on virtually any terrain, with a partition from Snoeks creating four additional seats. Seikel raised the suspension by around 30 millimetres and added protective plates for the engine, gearbox, AdBlue tank and differential rear axle. Added toughness was ensured with the stone deflector strip for the rear axle shock absorbers and mud terrain off-road tyres. With this kind of equipment, the new Crafter feels at home even off road.
Ready for almost any adventure.
The Amarok V6 premium pickup also impressed off-road fans at the show. Ready for almost any adventure, it also convinces with its underride guard and high intake snorkel. These are especially useful in sandy and dusty conditions and when driving through water. It’s no surprise that this powerful off-road vehicle was voted “All-Wheel Car of the Year 2017” by readers of AUTO BILD ALLRAD. (Source: “AUTO BILD ALLRAD”, issue 05/2017)
Converting a pickup into a camper.
The excitement was palpable around the versatile Florida, the first camper van based on the Crafter, measuring only some six metres in length. Schwabenmobil has developed a variable interior design which is available in nine different configurations. This camper always comes with a kitchen and wet room with shower and toilet. Meanwhile, GEHOcab showcased a finished Amarok with a KORA cab plus interior. Presented as a prototype at last year’s show, this off-road vehicle for aesthetes is now in series production.
